Some time ago, I had sold my beloved Tercel to my brother in law, who was able to things for it that I could not. In a mere six months under his ownership, he had it looking, running, and driving, like a new car. And now, it has found a new owner (this was an agreed condition when I sold him the car — he was flipping it).
After he fixed some things, he told me, “God... not sure if I want to sell it. This thing is sweet.” But he has lots of vehicles and just bought another project, so he stuck with his original plan.
The buyer basically showed up and enthusastically emptied his pockets. He said he had one back in high school and should have never sold it. So I’m happy it’s going to someone who will daily it and care for it. But now it’s out of the family. I had musings of buying it back one day, but I ultimately decided against it.
4 years ago, that thing was rotting in a field with siezed brakes, broken timing belt, and decay all over. Today, it’s running strong, with 345k miles and counting, thanks to two men.

God speed, little buddy. Best car I ever owned.

I’m glad it’s going to a good home!
Good on you for getting that thing back on it’s feet!

I sort of love those cars. It was the second car I ever drove (after a 69 Saab 96) and was a little mountain goat. A rusted hull of a mountain goat, but still a mountain goat.
